Forms of the nominative case

Nouns

1st declension

Masc
Singular -ь -й -ий
Plural -ы -и -ии

NB. spelling rule: ы becomes и after a sibilant (ж, ч, ш, щ) or a velar (г, к, х)


Neuter
Singular -о -е
Plural -а -я

NB. After a sibilant, о is written when stressed; е when unstressed.
After a soft consonant, ё is written when stressed; е when unstressed.

2nd declension

Fem
Singular -а -я -ия
Plural -ы -и -ии
NB. ы becomes и after a sibilant (ж, ч, ш, щ) or a velar (г, к, х) consonant

3rd declension

Feminine
Singular -ь
Plural -и

Neuter
Singular -мя
Plural -мена


Adjectives

Hard stem - stems which end in any consonant except for sibilants and velars:
-ый -ая -ое -ые

Soft stem - stems ending in sibilant (ж, ч, ш, щ) or velar (г, к, х):
-ий -яя -ее (the хорошее rule) -ие

NB. When a masculine adjective ends in -ой, the -ой is the stressed syllable.
